COVID-Inspired Poetry

COVID-Inspired Poetry? Yes. The COVID-19 pandemic is not the apocalypse, although it feels like it now. During the three weeks that I’ve been at home, I’ve tried to be present, look back, and draw on my faith that challenges me to look ahead, especially in uncertain times. I write poetry in times of doubt, as it’s a medium that allows me to ask how heavy experiences may transform me over time. I’m sharing my “COVID Questions” with the hope that it might inspire you to consider how your experiences are starting to reshape your values and priorities. Wishing everyone good health soon!

COVID Questions

What is my beauty,

what is my worth,

what is my currency,

and what of my birth?

What have I lost,

how do I grieve,

what have I found,

what will I retrieve?

What do I know,

what have I rehearsed,

to prepare for life,

lived in reverse?

What do I carry,

what will I lift,

what is my debt,

what is my gift?

What do I receive,

What do I give,

When can I be,

Slow-forward and live?
